SUSTAINABILITY AT THE EVENT

We’ve started our sustainability journey!

  • Minimizing event waste and committing to the reuse or repurposing of materials whenever possible.

  • Implementing food waste management and sorting for recycling and composting.

  • Expanding upon the food waste pilot program launched by the Pound Ridge Partnership, and using Waste Warriors - a team of resident volunteers.

Through these collective efforts, we aim to inspire and empower our community to make conscious choices that contribute to a greener and healthier Pound Ridge and the planet.

We are committed to doing our part in creating a more sustainable future for our community and the environment for generations to come in tandem with our organizer, Pound Ridge Partnership. We are dedicated to taking steps to actively reduce the impact our event has on the planet by:

  • Eliminating the sale of plastic water bottles and encouraging the use of reusable water bottles.

  • Reducing the use of all single-use plastics and working with our vendors to provide compostable or reusable serving ware.

If you are interested in taking a more active role in our commitment to sustainability

Here’s how you can help while you’re at Harvest Festival:

  • Bring a reusable water bottle! Pound Ridge Partnership has provided the Town Park with a new water refill station for a sustainable hydrating station. (Harvest Festival funds supported this project!)

  • Leave all your single-use plastic at home! We are asking our vendors to avoid the sale of plastic bottles or items in single-use plastics at our event, and you can support us by leaving yours at home too.

  • Carpool to reduce air pollution, there is no individual general admission charge. Local residents are encouraged to bike or walk.

  • Collaborate with our Waste Warriors, it’s not an easy job. Please follow their composting and recycling directions when disposing of waste.

  • Influence others to follow sustainable practices by setting an example

Putting these sustainable practices to work shows that you care about protecting the environment. Through your own actions, you can help encourage and inspire others to do their part as well. After all, social proof is one of the most powerful and effective ways to influence behavior.

Every step we take towards including sustainable efforts in our daily lives has a ripple effect.  Here are some ways to amplify and have a compounding effect locally and globally.
